Editing Lane's services are

Proofreading

The correction of misspellings, punctuation errors, typographical errors, and formatting inconsistencies. Proofreading may also include the comparison of documents for consistency.

Editing

The correction, in addition to proofreading, of grammatical errors. Attention will also be given to capitalization, word usage, tone, and format. Editing may include rewriting sections that are unclear or awkward, reorganizing to improve structure, and/or rewriting to improve tone or style. I will also check the content for any gaps, redundancies, or inaccuracies. In some cases, editing will include suggestions for improving the content of the document.

Manuscript Evaluation

The evaluation of a manuscript to determine its strengths and weaknesses and to give feedback on how to make improvements.

Along with my price quote, I will send you a Free Sample of my editing work.

When you send me your document or manuscript, or a portion of it, along with my price quote, I will send you a 3-5 page sample of my editing or proofreading of your document as well as notes I have made about your writing. The changes I have made will be easy to see through the use of "Track Changes" in one copy. I will also send a copy that is free of "Track Changes." Price Quotes, Rates, and Payments

Price Quotes

I will submit a firm price quote for your approval before starting any work. The price quote will be based upon an evaluation of your manuscript or document (or a portion of it) and will depend on the amount of editing or proofreading required.

Rates

Rates for editing and proofreading normally range from $3.00 to $5.00 per page ($.012 to $.016 per word) for editing or proofreading, with $4.00 per page ($.014 per word) being standard. My rate is $1.00 per page ($.004 per word) for manuscript evaluations. *Note: For professional editing and proofreading purposes, a standard page is 250 words. This is normally a typewritten, double-spaced page. It is calculated using the "word count" that is available in MS Word, using the Tools menu>Word count (Click on the Tools menu, and then click on "Word count." Divide the total "word count" by 250 to get the total number of pages.).

Payments

My preferred method of payment is by check or money order. I also accept PayPal, which allows for the use of all payment types, including credit cards.
